RONALDINHO WARNS RIVALS
Ronaldinho - warning for Barcelona rivals.
RONALDINHO WARNS RIVALSBarcelona superstar Ronaldinho sounded an ominous warning to the rest of the primera Liga by insisting: "We can still get better."
Frank Rijkaard's side have started the domestic campaign with three wins out of three, scoring nine goals in the process, and thumped Levski Sofia 5-0 in their Champions League opener for good measure.
However, Brazil playmaker Ronaldinho is not getting too carried away just yet.
"This season has started well but we can still get better," he told club website www.fcbarcelona.com.
"There are many teams out there that can create many problems for us in the fight for the title - Sevilla, Valencia and Real Madrid among others."
It is Quique Sanchez Flores' Valencia side who on Sunday travel to the Nou Camp, where they have picked up points in each of the past five seasons.
Ronaldinho is keen to buck that trend.
"We are highly motivated towards getting all three vitally important points," said the 26-year-old.
"We must pay close attention to all their players for there to be no surprises.
"Valencia are an extremely difficult team to beat and they have immense quality in attack."
Ronaldinho insists he has not been distracted by talk of a possible new deal in Catalonia.
"I'm never worried about my contract," he said. "I only worry about playing.
"My brother deals with all the paperwork, the only time I worry is when I'm on the pitch.
"I am very happy with the way things are going at the moment. Since I have come to Barca, things have gone well for me. I hope things continue like this all season and for a long time to come."
The former Paris St German star is even happy to live with Rijkaard's famed rotation policy.
"No player likes to sit out of a game, (but) the boss makes his decisions and we respect them," he said.
"I do not consider myself untouchable."
Argentinian youngster Lionel Messi picked up a thigh problem during last weekend's victory over Racing Santander but resumed full training on Thursday and is in contention.
Santiago Ezquerro has been working in isolation after injuring his left quadriceps, and is unlikely to feature.
Valencia, along with Barca and Sevilla, are the only other Primera Liga team to have a 100% record after three games.
Spain striker David Villa is hopeful that record will be extended on Sunday, although the 24-year-old knows it will be far from easy.
"We are very optimistic about the match," Villa told club website www.valenciacf.es. "We know it will be a very difficult encounter against fantastic opposition.
"Their results speak for themselves - champions of Europe, champions of Spain... they are one of the strongest teams in the world.
"Like our team, theirs is full of quality players. If one does not perform then another will. We will have to be alert until the final whistle."
Villa will come face to face with international colleague Xavi on Sunday, and is relishing the task.
"(Xavi is) a great footballer, very important for the way Barcelona play.
"I have had the pleasure of playing in the same side as him and understand very well the way he plays."

Crespo does a Ronaldinho to silence critics
Rome - Hernan Crespo did his best Ronaldinho impression to score the goal which gave Inter Milan a precious 1-0 win at Roma, their likeliest rivals for the Serie A title.
Wednesday's victory not only lifted Inter above Roma into third place on seven points, two behind leaders Palermo, but also silenced the critics who said the club were in crisis after an unconvincing start to the season.
Crespo is known for his clinical finishing rather than his dribbling skills, but he showed some neat footwork to skip past Philippe Mexes before firing home the only goal just before half-time.
Crespo, 31, said it had been a long time since he had scored a similar goal, casting his mind back to when he was with Parma between 1996 and 2000.
"I haven't scored a goal like that since my Parma days," said the Argentina international.
"I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. I will never be Ronaldinho, but I always give 100 per cent."
Crespo was delighted to give the perfect response to the critics who rounded upon Inter after their disappointing 1-1 draw against Sampdoria last Saturday.
"Too much was said after the Sampdoria game, and we gave a great demonstration of character by winning at the Olympic stadium," he said.
Inter had the chance to double their lead when Mexes pulled down Crespo in the box shortly after the break, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic's weak penalty was easily saved by Alexander Doni.
The late sending-ff of French midfielder Patrick Vieira took some of the gloss off Inter's night.
Following the relegation of Juventus and the points penalties handed out to AC Milan and Fiorentina for match-fixing, Inter are strong favourites to retain the Italian title.
They finished third last season but were awarded the Scudetto after the scandal fall-out. - Sapa-AFP .

Brazil ace's keepy-uppy

By ANTONELLA LAZZERI
RAGGED Ronaldinho turned into a World Cup flop because he spent his nights enjoying illicit romps with his French girlfriend, The Sun can reveal.Gorgeous model Alexandra Paressant said the Brazilian ace broke team rules to sneak off most evenings to bed her.
If that wasn’t tiring enough, she said he then liked to play World Cup football game FIFA 2006 on his PLAYSTATION.
Alexandra, 22, said: “The Brazilian coach had banned WAGS from the team’s hotel but we couldn’t bear to be apart.
“So nearly every night he would come to my hotel room and we would make love all night."
“Sometimes we didn’t even make it into the room, we would make love there and then in the corridor. We are mad for each other.
“He missed me too much and I don’t think it harmed him.”

World cup flop ... Ronaldinho
Ronaldinho is famed for his amazing keepy-uppy ball juggling — but is equally skilled OFF the pitch, said Alexandra. She added: “He cannot live without love, he is a very passionate person.
“He is as much a performer in the bedroom as he is on the football pitch."
“One night he made me scream with such pleasure the people on the hotel terrace below heard us because my window was open.”
Alexandra, who watched all Brazil’s games, added: “I know people say he didn’t play so well in the World Cup but I think he played well.
“I made him happy, and when he is happy he plays better football.”
Instead, she says, his habit of playing PlayStation after their romps may have knocked his form.
She said: “He likes to relax afterwards by playing his games. He was playing the FIFA 2006 football game during the World Cup.”
Alexandra also revealed she found it hard to know who to shout for when Brazil played France.
She said: “My heart was torn. I obviously wanted him to win but I am French so I also wanted them to win, it was hard for me.” Buck-toothed Ronaldinho, 26, met Alexandra at a hotel in Barcelona after his £21million move to Spain. She said: “I was with a modelling friend, we were working.
“I saw him but I didn’t approach him because I thought he had the image of a playboy and I don’t like that kind of man.
“But I left my room key on the table by mistake and he very sweetly brought it to me. We started talking and he is actually very shy. I found him cute and so different from what people think he is like.
“He is very cute, very polite. He treats me like a lady. He likes to take me for romantic meals and buy me little presents.”
“We spend all our time together when we can. We spend a lot of time making love, a lot of time in the bedroom. He is the best lover I have ever had. I love him. I love him!” They are planning to go on holiday in Brazil after she finishes her next assignment. Fashion model Alexandra added: “We have a lovely time there, we stay in a little tiny place.
“Sometimes he hires a helicopter so we can go to the capital to shop — he is very thoughtful.”

Brazil thrill ... Alex with Ron
Alexandra is due to come to Britain in September to star in an ITV programme about WAGS.
She said: “I met all the British WAGS and they were very nice. I am looking forward to seeing them again. I don’t think Victoria Beckham is taking part but I am hoping to star with her husband David in a film next year.
“I am filming ‘Asterix 3’ and either he or Zidane is supposed to be a guest star.
“I hope it is Beckham because I don’t like Zidane, he is arrogant.”
Alexandra’s revelations will be little comfort to England fans — still puzzled as to what made OUR BOYS fizzle out in Germany

5 money lessons from Ronaldinho
5 money lessons from Ronaldinho
Sanjay Matai, Moneycontrol.com | June 19, 2006 17:31 IST

Football fever is in and only getting hotter. Big screens, friends getting together, some beer flowing freely. . .if those are the images that this World Cup brings to you, this might be a good time to do some learning.
Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho is a great player and also arguably the favourite of the World Cup. While you watch his game, what you could also do is take some tips from his style and apply it to other facets of your life, in this case, your personal finance.
1. Direction, a must
Ronaldinho first creates the goal in his mind, even before he has the ball; even before he is anywhere near the goal post. This enables him to move with purpose and try and execute the strategies that the team would have planned beforehand.
Without such a clear-cut vision, the ball just gets hit around -- with no sense of direction, no sense of purpose. Direction is important, both for a footballer and an investor.
One of the important requirements for success is to have a clear-cut objective, a well-defined goal. Instead of saying 'I want to be rich', one should be saying, 'I want to have Rs 50 lakh (Rs 5 million) in the next 7 years' or some such well-defined goal. The desired goal then defines the strategy one should adopt; the path one should follow -to make the vision a reality.
2. Seize the right opportunity
While the opposition attacks Ronaldinho, he is looking for gaps. His agile mind and body then move with lightening speed to seize such opportunities. The imaginative passing and sublime dribbling is simply breathtaking.
Today's financial world has also become very fluid and dynamic. The changes are more frequent and more dramatic. Therefore, if one fails to act quickly, one could either end-up with huge losses or miss out on golden opportunities.
Yes, the vision is long-term. But the paths that one would have to follow to reach that goal would change with times. No single path will take you to the proverbial golden pot at the end of the rainbow. And this requires agile and open mind.
3. Be your own master, in total control
The awesome control and perfect balance of Ronaldinho are well known. These are qualities are a must. They complement agility. Too agile a mind and body could trip and fall, unless it is tempered by right amount of balance and control.
There is no need to rush headlong the moment an opportunity arises. It is important to weigh the pros and cons. Many times what seems to be a great opportunity may not actually be so. Taking due care and diligence is equally important as moving fast. The balance between the two makes for a great investor; else one could end up being on the losing side.
4. Take losses in stride
Of course, Ronaldinho does not underestimate the opposition. He knows when to retreat and lie low, before embarking on another attack. Sometimes you may not find the right opportunities to invest. At such times, one should remain in cash and wait. Opportunities come and go.
Investing is a long-term game. So if one is sitting on cash even for 2-3 months, one should not get anxious. The recent correction should teach us a lesson. We all knew that the markets were overvalued and it would have been prudent to wait. But with the markets making new highs non-stop for almost 4-5 months, greed overcame caution. And many of us had to pay a price for that.
Ronaldinho also takes goals scored on his team as part of the game. He learns from them rather than mourning about it. We should also be take losses in our stride. Making money every time is not possible. Losses should spur and motivate us to improve ourselves, rather than be de-motivated and run away from the market. Market is a great leveller. It will give us opportunities to recover our losses and make money. So one should not despair and be patient.
5. Relish the victory
And last, but not the least, is the sheer delight or enjoyment with which Ronaldinho plays his game. He simply loves playing. His permanent smile is so infectious. There is no apparent pressure to perform. Yes, winning is important. But more important is the enjoying the game.
There are many more things in life than just football or money. Therefore, obsessive attachment with making money spoils the very fun of money. Money should be 'happily' earned and 'happily' enjoyed.
Finally, here's wishing Ronaldinho a great World Cup 2006 and you too for your investment game.

Ronaldinho: Brazil are a team
Ronaldinho: Brazil are a team
Ronaldinho insists Brazil are no one-man team as he looks to help the World Cup holders reclaim the trophy in style.
The Barcelona playmaker has been tipped as the man to guide the South Americans to their third victory in the last four tournaments.
But the 26-year-old maintains he cannot be expected to shoulder the burden of expectation when Brazil open their campaign against Croatia on Tuesday.
Ronaldinho told the Sunday Mail: "I played in the 2002 winning side but there wasn't the same expectation on me then as there is now.
"We had Rivaldo in our team four years ago and a lot was expected from him.
"The players had faith in him, the supporters had faith in him and the coach had faith in him. It was a lot to cope with and he delivered.
"Things have moved on. Rivaldo is no longer playing for Brazil, but we still have Ronaldo and many other good players.
"I'm fortunate to play with good players. We are not a one-man team - this is not all about Ronaldinho.
"I cannot win the World Cup on my own. When we won it in 2002, it was Brazil who were the victors.
"It does not say 'Rivaldo' or 'Ronaldo' on the trophy. It will be the same this time if we win. It will not say 'Ronaldinho'.
"It will say 'Brazil'."

Ronaldinho expects to face tough defense at World Cup
Wednesday, June 7, 2006 (Koenigstein, Germany):
Ronaldinho knows being the best player in the world has its burdens. One of them will be to face defenders extra motivated trying to stop him at the World Cup.
"I've been facing tough defense for quite some time with Barcelona and the national team. It's not going to be any different in the World Cup," Ronaldinho said before one of Brazil's practice sessions in Koenigstein.
Ronaldinho, named FIFA player of the year for the last two consecutive times, will be leading Brazil on its quest to win its second straight World Cup title - and sixth overall.
"All nations try to set up the best defense in the world when they are facing Brazil. We know we will face a lot of difficulty because of that. Everybody plays very defensively against Brazil," he said.
The striker, who helped FC Barcelona win the Spanish title and the Champions League earlier this year, said he doesn't want extra pressure because of his status of best in the world.
"I think everybody in the team has the same responsibility. What I have is a lot of motivation to play my best. I'm going through a wonderful moment and I hope to get to the World Cup at the same level."
Ronaldinho, 26, also said he's not worried about his scoring drought during the team's pre-World Cup preparation. He netted no goals in the three warm-up matches in which Brazil outscored its opponents - Swiss club FC Lucerne, Fluminense's under-20 squad and New Zealand - by 25-1.
Ronaldinho said that his job in the national team was to help the forwards score.
Ronaldinho will be playing in his second World Cup. He was a member of the squad that won Brazil's fifth title at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
Ronaldinho has 46 goals in 88 matches for Brazil. Ronaldinho on Tuesday proudly distributed to teammates the first issue of the Brazilian comic book in which he is a toothy, boyish character possessing the soccer wizardry of his namesake, the Brazilian Soccer Confederation said. The deal for the player's comic book series was closed last year in Brazil. (AP)

Ronaldinho: 'I Am Not The Best In The World'

Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho is widely considered the best footballer in the world - and he has the awards and trophies to prove it. World Footballer of the Year in 2004 and 2005, a World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002 and hot favourite to repeat that success in the June 9 - July 9 finals in Germany later this year, the 26-year-old added a Champions League medal to his collection last week when he played in Barcelona's 2-1 Champions League final victory against Arsenal.
But in an exclusive interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa, Ronaldinho said that he does not consider himself the best footballer in the world.
"I think I am a player playing very good football, so I am happy. But I am aware of the fact that I have room for improvement. But in every country there are lots of great players."
Asked to name three, the soft-spoken striker rattles off names. "I could name more than three: Henry, Zidane, Ronaldo, Adriano, Robinho, Kaka, Shevchenko, Inzaghi...there are lots in every team."
Ronaldinho, who was born Ronaldo de Assis Moreira in Porte Alegre and is commonly known as Ronaldinho Gaucho due to his being from the Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil, was given the nickname Ronaldinho to distinguish between himself and his compatriot Ronaldo.
He was born into a poor family. His mother sold cosmetics door to door as the salary from Ronaldinho's late father, who was a shipyard worker was not enough to support the family.
Although a lot has changed since then and his family remains the most important thing in his life, he is now firmly focussed on the World Cup ahead.
He says he is hoping that the Selecao can repeat their triumph of four years ago, but he is quick to point out that his main aim is not to be the superstar of the World Cup.

England can deal with Ronaldinho
Chelsea captain John Terry believes that England will be able to "deal with" World Footballer of the Year Ronaldinho if they come up against the Brazilian in this summer's World Cup finals.
Depending on results, England and Brazil are on course to clash in the semi-finals in Germany in what would be a rematch of their meeting in the quarter-finals in Japan four years ago.
But Terry has has taken confidence from the way Chelsea have dealt with Ronaldinho in their meetings with Barcelona over the last two seasons in the Champions League.
And the 25-year-old Blues centre-back said: "Everyone says Ronaldinho is the best player in the world which I personally agree with. But going into any possible game I don't think we're going to show him too much respect or let him get away with things.
"Paulo Ferreira marked him really well and got really tight to him for Chelsea and against England he'd be up against the likes of Gary Neville who is a fantastic world class player and I'm sure he'll know how to deal with him.
"Ronaldinho is a great player and difficult to mark but I'm sure we'll do our best. He's a very strong player, he's got great feet, is a great finisher. He scores goals, he's quick. He's absolutely got everything."
There was a time when the Italian defenders were widely regarded as the best in the business.
But Terry believes that England should now be placed in the same bracket and he is a particular admirer of Manchester United right-back Gary Neville and his preparations.
He added: "I think we have certainly caught up with the Italians, if you want to put it that way, but I'm not saying there aren't world class defenders out there.
"There's (Alessandro) Nesta, (Carles) Puyol, etc. I've had the likes of Marcel Desailly and William Gallas with me at Chelsea and I've learned from Ricardo Carvalho.
"But which defenders in the world do I admire? I tend to think of the English lads really, the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville. I see these people day in day out in the Premiership
"Certainly coming away with England and seeing Gary Neville and seeing how he works in training and after training is excellent. It's not just about games, it's about preparation and he is spot on all the time."
Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, meanwhile, believes, that the time has come for England to deliver at this summer's World Cup after insisting one major trophy in the national team's history is "not good enough".
Carragher said: "I talk to the other players about it. To have won only trophy in our history is unbelievable. It's not good enough with the players England have had down the years.
"Greece have done it but we've never won a European Championship. It's about time that England did do something on an international stage. Everyone else seems to do it and we always seem to fall short for whatever reason.
"But I think the group of players we have is one of the best probably since we last won the World Cup - and hopefully we can go and win it again this summer."
He added: "When you look at the favourites for the World Cup, Brazil are a stand-out team and people talk about the Italian and Dutch squads along with Argentina, whom we have beaten. But on paper, I'd say that we were as strong as any, if not stronger than the other nations alongside Brazil."

Ronaldinho: 'We never panicked'

Football UEFA Champions League
Ronaldinho says Barcelona never doubted despite taking over 75 minutes to break down ten-man Arsenal to win the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Brazilian was subdued as the Liga champions struggled to overcome a resilient Arsenal side, who led for much of the game despite losing keeper Jens Lehmann after just 18 minutes to a red card.
But the Barça number ten insists the side - who scored more goals in the tournament than any other - remained confident they could breach the Gunners' defence.
"We didn't panic," said Ronaldinho, who saw Samuel Eto'o level Sol Campbell's first-half goal with just fourteen minutes left, before Juliano Belletti snatched the trophy with nine minutes remaining.
"We knew that at one moment or another, we would score. We never lost our belief. We were playing well, and we had an extra man. There was only one problem: find that final ball and finish it off. We just had to keep possession and we knew the goal would come."
The world and European footballer of the year added the only trophy that was missing from his already overburdened mantlepiece after claiming a second successive Liga title this season and winning the 2002 World Cup with his country.
But despite having won everything in the game aged just 26, Ronaldinho insisted he remains determined to continue winning trophies.
"It's another title, and that always gives you more motivation to work and improve," he said. "I want to carry on like this. Having said that, you have to enjoy it while you can, so I'm going to relax and enjoy the moment."

Ronaldinho:Laureus Awards Are Very Important
"It Is An Honor to Be on the Nominees List"
![]() | |
| Ronaldinho |
BARCELONA — Brazil and FC Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho has just days to wait to see if he is acclaimed as Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, after a brilliant 2005 in which he was named FIFA's World Player of the Year for the second straight time.
Ronaldinho, one of the world's great footballers, who is expected to be the star of this summer's FIFA World Cup, said: "I am very happy. When I was told that I was selected among the nominees I felt very excited. I already know the Laureus Awards because Ronaldo told me about them. He received an award after the last World Cup. It is a great honour to be present there."
Also nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award is Spain's Fernando Alonso (Formula 1), Lance Armstrong (cycling), Roger Federer (tennis), Valentino Rossi (motor cycling) and Tiger Woods (golf).
The Laureus World Sports Awards is unique. It is the only global sports awards honouring the greatest sportsmen and women across all sports each year. The winners are selected by the ultimate sports jury - the 42 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, a collection of the world's greatest sportsmen and women. The living legends of sport honouring the great athletes of today.
The names of the winners will be announced during a televised Awards Ceremony staged at the Parc del Fòrum, Barcelona, Spain, on the evening of May 22, 2006.
Ronaldinho is only the third player to have been voted FIFA World Player of the Year more than once, following Ronaldo and France's Zinedine Zidane, who both won the award three times, Ronaldinho has demonstrated his ability to change the course of a match with brilliant solo skills which has made him the creative force of the Brcelona and Brazil attack.
Ronaldinho, who some weeks ago posed next to one of the Laureus Academy members, the legendary England football player Bobby Charlton, at Barcelona's Nou Camp Stadium, is very excited with his nomination. Now he is waiting to see if Charllton, and his fellow Academy members, vote for him to win the prestigious Laureus Award.
It is only the second time a football player has been nominated for the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award. In 2003, as a consequence of his success in the FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, Real Madrid star Ronaldo was on the short list, but he lost to cyclist Lance Armstrong. However he was rewarded with the Laureus World Comeback of the Year Award that year after his return to Brazil's team after a long term injury.
Laureus is a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Richemont, represented by the founding partner brands IWC and Mercedes-Benz.
Last year's Awards Ceremony, in the presence of His Majesty, The King of Spain, was attended by the legends of the Laureus World Sports Academy and Hollywood stars Jackie Chan, Morgan Freeman, Teri Hatcher and Marcia Gay Harden. Among the award winners present were Roger Federer, Kelly Holmes and Greece football coach Otto Rehhagel.
Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is a city with an enormous sporting tradition which has staged the most important sports events. The immensely successful 1992 Olympic Games gave a new impulse to sport in the city. Sport is a part of everyday life in Barcelona and during the past few years the number of high-level international championships staged in the city has multiplied. Therefore it is no surprise that Barcelona was chosen to host the Laureus World Sports Awards in 2006.
Barcelona is a Mediterranean and metropolitan city with the most modern facilities. Its unique architecture, artistic ambience and many tourist attractions have made Barcelona one of the most visited cities in the world. A business and leisure city, it is the ideal place to organise such an important moment of the sporting year - the Laureus Awards Ceremony.

Ronaldinho phones a friend

Ronaldinho has revealed his secret phone calls and text messages to Thierry Henry as he pleads with him to join Barcelona this summer.
The Brazilian superstar claims he is in regular contact with Henry which will be a major concern to Arsenal as they battle to keep their captain from the clutches of Barcelona this summer. And Ronaldinho has told the Gunners striker that there is no better place to play football than Barcelona as the two clubs prepare to meet in next Wednesday’s Champions League final.
It is also seen as a battle between the two best strikers in the world but the Barca hero insists there is room for both of them at the Nou Camp.
Ronaldinho has developed a friendship with Henry after meeting at several world player of the year events and through sponsorship commitments.
“I speak with Henry on the phone quite often, but I haven’t spoken to him this week. This week we have swapped a few text messages. He is a fantastic player, one of the best in the world,” said Ronaldinho.
“But this is not a contest between Ronaldinho and Henry, it is a game between Barca and Arsenal and we all have to be prepared.
Henry is a player who has a lot of quality and he could go to any team in the world and make it better.
“He is so good technically, has great pace and has a lot of force. He has the characteristics of a player that could adapt to any team in the world.
“I’m not thinking to myself that in the final I can impress him and convince him to join us. That’s not my priority. My objective is to do my best for my team. It won’t be me that makes his decision for him. But I can say that it’s always a good thing to have great players in your team and that is what we have here.”
Ronaldinho has become a superstar since joining Barcelona from Paris Saint Germain three years ago.
He said: “It’s special for me to go back to a city that I love for the final of the Champions League which is the biggest game there is in club football,” he said.

Ronaldinho gives Barça belief
Ronaldinho has been the inspiration behind FC Barcelona's resurgence since joining the Catalan club from Paris Saint-Germain FC in 2003. "He is the player who has made every Barcelona fan believe in their team again," FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta said. "He has been one of the main reasons why Barcelona are now as successful as we are." After claiming his second Spanish title in as many seasons last week, Ronaldinho is now looking to go one further and win Europe's top prize by defeating Arsenal FC in the UEFA Champions League final. Ronaldinho has already scored seven times in the competition this season and his wide array of tricks and skills have set the competition alight. Only Thierry Henry has come close to emulating the dazzling Brazilian, who told the Official UEFA Champions League magazine programme that he will be looking to get the better of his friend when the two go head to head at the Stade de France…
UEFA: How does it feel to have reached the UEFA Champions League final? How does it feel to have reached the UEFA Champions League final?
Ronaldinho: I am extremely happy, this is what every sportsman dreams about. And now that we have this important opportunity, I want to prepare well for it so I can enjoy the occasion.
UEFA: Crucial matches are coming thick and fast at the moment...
Ronaldinho: Yes, especially towards the end of the season because we have done well in both competitions and this is a very important year because of the World Cup. We think football 24 hours a day.
UEFA: How would it feel to win the UEFA Champions League in Paris of all places?
Ronaldinho: It would be perfect. It is where I started playing football in Europe and it would be a bit like coming home. I’m ecstatic that I’ll be playing the final there.
UEFA: What do you think of Arsenal's incredible run of not conceding a goal in ten games?
Ronaldinho: Arsenal have a very good team you know. From the goalkeeper to the forwards, I have a lot of respect for them because they are very accomplished players. In order to breach their defence, we’ll have to use many weapons, such as playing at full speed which I think may help us achieve that target.
UEFA: Tell us about Thierry Henry...
Ronaldinho: He is a friend of mine. I will have to play against a friend who is very talented and we will have to be very cautious and alert when we play against him in the final.
UEFA: What do you make of all the speculation linking him with a move to the Camp Nou?
Ronaldinho: Yes, that is a possibility that he has and if he decided to come here we would receive him with open arms, especially myself because he is a very good friend and a great player.
UEFA: What’s it like to be thought of as the best player in the world?
Ronaldinho: I’m looking forward to helping my team-mates as best as I can. I don't consider myself the best player in the world. I'm happy to do the best I can so my team can win and continue playing at the same level as they are performing at the moment.
UEFA: Have you relaxed at all since the winning the Spanish league with Barcelona?
I don't intend to be the best player in the final or to try anything new. I want to try to play as simple as possible so that my team can benefit from it
Ronaldinho
Ronaldinho: No, I’m training lots to be in good shape for the final. I don't intend to be the best player in the final or to try anything new. I want to try to play as simple as possible so that my team can benefit from it. In other words, I want to play as close to my normal game as possible.
UEFA: What makes you happiest?
Ronaldinho: When I'm successful, when I can do what makes me happiest, which is to provide my team-mates with passes they can put away. I enjoy winning matches of course and scoring goals. Winning is always the main priority. I want to win titles and if I can win and play well at the same time I will be happiest.
